- quote -
千束の池袈裟懸松 Kesagake-no-Matsu at Senzoku-Ike Pond

The name of the Senzoku-Ike Pond comes from a legend where The Venerable Nichiren stopped
and washed his feet to heel fatigue out of travelling on the way from Kuon-ji Temple on Mt. Minobu to Ibaraki for medical treatment.
The pine tree onto which he hung his Kesa 袈裟 (Buddhist monk's robe) after taking it off at such a moment is the "Kesagake-no-Matsu".

- quote -
Ueno Sakuragi Atari is a collection of shops and community rooms, housed in 3 buildings from 1938, bringing the Old Tokyo feel to life. It is located in the Ueno Sakuragi area, just south of Yanaka Cemetery and north of Ueno park.
It is nice to see all the initiatives in Tokyo to protect and renovate older buildings. In the Yanaka neighbourhood, we have SCAI The Bath House opening in 1993, Hagiso in 2013 and this Ueno Sakuragi Atari building complex in 2015, which consists of three houses built in 1938. They have been renovated into shops and community spaces that can be used for events.
These buildings are a perfect example of the building style in the 1930s, with Japanese shikkui plaster walls (ecological nontoxic Japanese lime plaster) and with both Western and Japanese style rooms. Two of the buildings were specifically designed to offer panoramic views over the interior (formerly private) garden.
What makes this place special is that you can experience some traditional buildings that are actively being used, out in the open, for the community and the visitor to use. There are many old houses all over Japan that are turned into museums.

CHINJU-NO-MORI is a place to give a prayer of gratitude to nature which has been providing bread of life for the Japanese from ancient times.
We define the grove closest to a life remaining near us as 'CHINJU-NO-MORI.'
Our goal is to make best use of the grove as a place to form a bond between people as well as people and nature, and to pass down toward future our 'wisdom' and 'tales' cherished over time and also 'heart' and 'space' to show thanks to nature.

Find luck at the Lucky Snake Shrine!
Since ancient times, Japanese people have regarded white-colored creatures to be sacred embodiments of the gods, and have treated them with great respect and care.
In Iwakuni, the Shirohebi (White Snake), which kept local rice storehouses free from damage by mice, was said to be a servant of Benzaiten (also known as Saraswati, the Indian god of water), and many temples and wayside shrines dedicated to the White Snake were built all over the Iwakuni region.
In the present day, Shirohebi Shrine attracts many visitors, as a deity that attracts financial luck, prosperous business, and health and longevity. Protective amulets and other White Snake goods are available to buy here. Located next to the shrine is a facility where White Snakes are raised in an outdoor environment (Imazu white snake observation facility. ), where you can observe this living natural monument for yourself.

EDO - Jikkendana district

https://edoflourishing.blogspot.com/2014/01/edo-saijiki.html

The Ten Doll Stores (Jukkendana)

- quote -
Jikkendana 十軒店(じっけんだな)
This picture depicts a lady holding the hina doll's crown in front of the dairibina, dolls representing the Emperor and Empress, and the scenery of Jikkendana is depicted in the picture in the frame. In Jikkendana, there are lines of shops selling dairibina and bald dolls for the Momo Festival of the third month on the lunar calendar and warrior figurines and carp banners for the Tango Festival of the fifth month of the lunar calendar.
Jikkendana was located where Nihonbashi Muromachi in Chuo Ward is today and it is said to be so called because 10 shops (jikken) lined both sides of the street.
Throughout Edo, hina markets that sold hina dolls (a set of dolls for the hinamatsuri festival consisting traditionally of members of the Imperial court) were held in places such as Owaricho, Asakusa Kaya-cho and Komagome, but it was Jikkendana that was most successful.
During around the Meiwa years (1964-1772), the doll maker Shugetsu Hara made the kokin-bina dolls. It is said that these kokin-bina dolls were related to the hina dolls of today.
In the Edo period, there was such a diversity of dolls created that the shogunate banned the making of dolls that were excessively extravagant.

Shido-shogun (Generals Dispatched to Four Circuits) (四道将軍)
The term "Shido-shogun" refers to four imperial (royal) generals who appeared in the Nihon Shoki (the Chronicle of Japan), namely
Obiko no mikoto, Takenunakawa wake no mikoto, Kibitsuhiko no mikoto and Tanbamichi nushi no mikoto.
Summary
According to the "Nihon Shoki," each of these generals was dispatched to Kuga no michi (Hokuriku circuit), Umitsu michi (Tokai circuit), Nishi no michi (Sanyo circuit) and Tanba michi (Sanin circuit), in the 10th year of Emperor Sujin's reign (88 B.C. ?)
They were appointed as generals to use armed force against and defeat those who would not accept the Emperor's precepts, and it was reportedly in the following year, the 11th year of Emperor Sujin's reign (87 B.C. ?) that these generals returned in triumph after subduing the local rebels. (This is, however, believed to have actually happened at around the beginning of the fourth century.)
